About the Cart Shed
This architect-designed cedar-clad barn conversion is a private and luxurious home to get away from it all. A spacious and contemporary living space with huge panoramic sliding windows, it has the most amazing far-reaching views over the Somerset Levels and to Glastonbury Tor. In the summer, let the outside in and enjoy coffee on the terrace. In the cooler months enjoy the comfort of the underfloor heating and snuggle up on the comfy sofa and watch the incoming weather flood across the Levels, while watching your favourite programme on the smart TV, or curling up with a good book.
Our guests’ reviews below tell it better than we can.
The kitchen area is elegantly fitted out, with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment, microwave and dishwasher: a perfect space for cooking a lazy breakfast in bed, or maybe even a romantic supper. Go up a few steps to the stylish king-size bedroom and en-suite shower room has a walk-in shower and WC. and sleep tight after a busy day exploring. There are curtains if you wish to draw them; when left open guests can enjoy the views even when enjoying a lie in!
Push open the sliding doors, and the terrace immediately becomes part of the living space, seamlessly linking inside to outside. With al fresco dining furniture, the raised terrace is the perfect spot to take in the Glastonbury vibe. Have breakfast outside, enjoy the sunshine, or have a BBQ, and plan the next day’s adventures with your favourite drink in hand. There is ample parking, and the property includes a secure and heated bike store and drying room. There is a wash-down facility for bikes, and a washing machine available in the laundry room.

Abi and Ben, Feb 2024 – We have loved our time at the Cart Shed. Dexter has been fabulous. Loved the views and cosiness. We enjoyed Clarks village at Street, Glastonbury Tor + town centre and Wells Cathedral (plus the stunning 650 year old Vicars Close)
Bethan and Steve, December 2023 – So delighted with this gem of The Cart Shed. We got to find out how splendid underfloor heating is, on top of the other gorgeous aesthetic features of this, our home for the week. Could hardly believe the beauty of sunrise over Glastonbury Tor and smashing sunsets to the right of the glass fronted panoramic views over the Nature Reserve… Thank you Hilary and Richard for making this such a superb comfort stay. Can’t wait to tell our friends about it.
Jules and Keith, September 2023. The is something very special about the Cart Shed and the beautiful surroundings, this was our third visit in 2 years. The spectacular views, the peace and quiet always give a sense of wellbeing for us. Thank you Hilary, Richard and Dexter for your fabulous hospitality.
Sara & Neil, September 2023 – The Cart Shed – Wow! So easy just to stay put during the late summer heatwave, with a beverage on the terrace. Memories we will take with us… Six am. ‘Avalon’ standing above the levels mist. Wells – Bishops Palace and garden. Roger Wilkins Cider Farm. Unique
Julie and Chris, July 2023 – The last 7 days at the Cart Shed have been amazing. The ‘shed’ totally exceeded our expectations. We spent hours just sitting on the sofa or terrace relaxing and watching the never-ending wildlife. We spotted the woodpeckers on the telegraph pole, the fox and her cub in the field below the shed, a kestrel and the worlds’ biggest dragonflies!!! We will both miss this place and more so the views in the morning from the bed, and hope to return.
Lynn and Bill, March 2022 – Hilary and Richard’s lockdown project – Stunning! Starting point – that view from the bed – What a vista! Peaceful and relaxing – but close to all points of interest. Could have watched lambs all day – local produce on our arrival – delicious! A must – a walk to Wilkins Cider Farm at the end of the lane – blooming marvellous cider! This week will live long in our memories.
David and Phong, Feb 2022 – This is one of the most pleasant stays in England we have had. This is a great location and the shed is very well laid out – very comfortable. Thank you so much!
Teresa and Will December 2021 – Lovely house, amazing views. We will repeat for sure.
Jean and Jonathan Nov 2021 – What a wonderful place. Enjoyed our own mini-murmuration of starlings & the planets – rings of Saturn, crescent Venus & moons of Jupiter with the aid of our telescope – all from the warmth of the living room! Catcott and Ham Walls were wonderful and Wells was v. interesting. Thanks for the bread, cheese and pickle – they made great tasty lunches.
Emily and Daniel Oct 2021 – We have had a lovely relaxing week at the Cart Shed. We could have spent the whole week looking at the view! The house has been perfect for us, with everything we have needed.

We are ready to go back to life now. Thank you for creating this unique space. Perfect for quiet get away with a one year old. Cheese and bread a nice touch after a long journey.
Mandy, 1st October 2021 – An absolute stunning creation by the delightful owners. A great deal of thought has been given to the decor, furnishings and contents. It lacked nothing. We do like to eat in occasionally and every utensil you could think of was to hand. Taking in the views across the Somerset levels and to Glastonbury Tor, and more…it’s quite breath taking. Perfect for walking and all the visitor sites are within easy reach. A beautiful part of the UK showcased by the perfect property. We hope to return.
Sandra, 24th September 2021 – The Cart Shed is a lovely bolt hole to relax, unwind and very comfortable. The hosts could not be more helpful and friendly.
